As a teenager I developed a love of flying. I thus earned my first
degree in Aeronautical Science at age 19 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University,
along with my commercial pilot and flight instructor's licenses with
multi-engine, instrument, and seaplane ratings.
I then obtained my next degree at Pace University in New York,
receiving my Bachelor of Science Degree in 1981 at age 21.
At age 22, I graduated from Air Force Officer Training School
near the top of my class, and while there also felt a calling to
serve as my squadron's chapel officer.
I then flew Air Force subsonic and supersonic aircraft, and had
soloed the supersonic T-38 jet by the tender age of 22.
In my late 20s, a spiritual longing was born that led me, by chance,
to begin a theological journey via a scholarship to study at Seminary
in New York state. I then received another scholarship to continue
my studies at Seminary in Israel, where I lived for a time in Jerusalem's
ancient "Mea Shearim" neighborhood.
During that time, I was privileged to study the "Talmud", "Torah", and "Kabbalah",
along with the entire history of religion. Some of my fondest memories are of strolling
empty passageway's of the old city of Jerusalem alone after midnight, listening
to the warm desert wind sing to me its lullaby of ancient memories.
Although my religious studies were both eye-opening and enriching,
I chose to return to a secular life in the West.
Upon my return, I then completed post-graduate work in Accounting
at Georgia State University.
My pursuit of a moral life based on science, reason, logic, and
ethics ultimately led me to become a Freemason in 2006. One
of the great honors of my life was having my Masonic petition signed
by none other than fellow Mason and Moonwalker Edgar D. Mitchell.
My most recent university degree was bestowed upon me in 2007.
At that time, I received an honorary degree from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta,
along with Apollo 16 Moonwalker Charles M. Duke, Jr.
Apollo 16 Moonwalker Charles M. Duke, Jr was thus my partner
as I received my honorary degree, and Apollo 14 Moonwalker
Edgar D. Mitchell my partner as I became a Freemason!
